Pyrite

Perfect cubic crystal of pyrite with sharp edges and a mirror-like golden lustre. The crystal measures 1.5 × 1.5 × 1.4 cm. Specimens of this quality are almost exclusive to this locality in Spain - no other site in the world consistently produces pyrite crystals with such precision and symmetry. It's hard to believe these flawless shapes form naturally. There is a second pyrite cube partially hidden in the matrix - just the corner is visible, peeking out (as seen in the second photo). The Ampliación a Victoria Mine was developed specifically to produce pyrite specimens and remains one of the few mines in the world dedicated entirely to this purpose.
